The miraculous sweetmakers by Natasha Hastings- Blog Tour!

Hi everyone,

How are you?

Today’s post is a review for the blog tour of ‘the miraculous sweetmakers’ by Natasha Hastings.

Synopsis:

It’s winter, 1683, and the Great Frost has swept into London.

By day, thirteen-year-old Thomasina and her friend Anne peddle sweets on the frozen river, hearing rumors of the magical Frost Fair that awakens there at night. They say if you can find it, Father Winter himself will grant any wish you have.

And Thomasina has an impossible wish: the return of her twin brother, whose death left her family fractured.

But once they discover Father Winter’s icy kingdom, Thomasina and Anne quickly realize the Frost Fair isn’t exactly what it seems… and that some wishes never come for free.

A heartwarming, moving journey and a magical adventure all in one, The Frost Fair is a dazzling historical fantasy perfect for fans of Frozen and The Real Boy.

My thoughts:

The cover of this arc is beautiful!
I’m not going to lie, the cover of this one is what initially caught my eye. When I read the synopsis I wasn’t quite sure what to think, it sounded good but I have been mood reading a lot recently and I wasn’t feeling it at the time. I’m glad that I waited to pick this up until yesterday because I was actually excited to read it.
Firstly I just need to mention how incredible the atmosphere is in this book. I got all the wintery vibes, got cozy and read nearly all of it in one sitting. The frost fair itself was so detailed and I really want to visit (despite the fact that it would more than likely be a terrible idea hehe).
Thomasina was a interesting character. She was grieving for her brother but trying to carry on as best as she could and I admired that about her. Along the way she becomes friends with Anne who runs an apothecary shop which was intriguing in itself. The friendship between these two was lovely to read. Anne came at a time when Thomasina really needed a friend and I loved watching that develop.
I found myself laughing, smiling and getting teary, sometimes all at once. I liked the ending and seeing thomasina and her family. This book is perfect to read all year round but if you are looking for a bingeable book about friendship, family, grief, love with all the wintery vibes during this season, it’s an amazing book and well worth the read for all ages!
