Dread Wood by Jennifer Killick- Blog tour!

Hi everyone,

How are you?

Today’s post is my spot on the blog tour for dread wood by Jennifer Killick. Thank you so much to the author, publisher and of course, Dave!

Synopsis;

It’s basically the worst school detention ever. When classmates (but not mate-mates) Hallie, Angelo, Gustav and Naira are forced to come to school on a SATURDAY, they think things can’t get much worse. But they’re wrong. Things are about to get seriously scary.

What has dragged their teacher underground? Why do the creepy caretakers keeping humming the tune to Itsy Bitsy Spider? And what horrors lurk in the shadows, getting stronger and meaner every minute . . .? Cut off from help and in danger each time they touch the ground, the gang’s only hope is to work together. But it’s no coincidence that they’re all there on detention. Someone has been watching and plotting and is out for revenge . . .

My thoughts:

When I got the email about this book I read the synopsis and was very curious but horror/ thriller novels are not really my thing but it was middle grade so I decided to give it a go and I’m glad that I did. By the time I got around to picking it up I had forgotten what it was about and I’m actually glad because it added to my enjoyment of the book.

I really liked our characters and following them through the book. I also liked how they became closer as the story went on and worked together to uncover what was going on.

There were a few places were I lost interest a bit but my curiosity was piqued on the next page or during the next chapter and as the story went on each chapter had me more intrigued than the last. I wanted to know what was happening. The creepiness of this book definitely kept me hooked as well. I was satisfied with how it ended and how everything came together.

Jennifer Killick has a great writing style in my opinion. This book was really easy to get through, I read it in one sitting and kept turning pages because I wanted to find out what was going on. If you enjoy middle grade and horror/ thriller books, this one is worth picking up!
