Aether ones by Wendi Coffman-Porter-Blog Tour!

Hi everyone,

How are you?

Today I am doing my review for aether ones. Thank you so much to Dave for allowing me to be on this tour and to the author and the publisher.

Synopsis:

Leilani Falconi is a top agent for the Imperial Investigative Service, tasked with policing the veil between two realities. Long ago, the Great Sundering tore the universe into two mirrored halves; aether space, which progressed using magical energy or eldrich, and kuldain, which advanced via electromagnetic technology.

But now a series of suspicious deaths stretching back more than a decade has the agent trapped directly between secretive bureaucracies and their peoples. If she can’t solve the mysterious crimes in time, existence as she knows it could erupt into chaos.

My thoughts:

When I first read the synopsis for this book, I knew it was going to be something that I would enjoy. But, I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I flew through this book so fast!

I’m not going to lie though, the first couple of chapters or so, I was so confused, I didn’t actually know what was going on but, I liked that it sort of drops you into this world and you learn as you go.

The main character (Leilani) adds to the grip and hold this book has on you right from the very start. She takes every challenge thrown at her in her stride. I enjoyed reading from her perspective so much, She takes no bs from anyone, she’s short tempered, highly sarcastic and I loved every second of it hehe. There were other characsts but, we didn’t get to see them as often as I would of liked but, I really enjoyed Rothar as a character and his dynamic with Lei and I’m interested to see more of him and Lei!

The world itself is very intriguing, complex and so interesting to learn about. It’s also very easy to learn about, if that makes sense. It may be complex but, it is explained in a way that makes it really easy to understand. There are also ships and battles, fights and military training, all of which I love in a good sci-fi book and it added to the vivid picture that I could make of this world in my mind.

I really enjoyed the ending of this book, for the most part. It was kind of abrupt in my opinion but, I am still interested to see where the story is going to go next and what is next for these characters. If you love sci-fi, sarcastic and strong female leads, politics, great world building and military soldiers in space, I recommend giving this one a try.
